Crowns
When a tooth breaks, has a large filling, or is significantly damaged by decay, Dr. Roby may recommend a crown. A crown will strengthen and protect the remaining tooth structure from further breakdown. Depending on your situation, we may recommend an all-metal crown, a porcelain-fused-to-metal crown, an all-porcelain crown, or a zirconia crown. You and Dr. Roby will decide which type of crown is right for you prior to beginning treatment.

It usually takes about two appointments to prepare your tooth, fabricate the crown, and place the permanent restoration. At the first appointment, Dr. Roby will remove any decay and take precise impressions of your tooth. Then he will cement a temporary crown into place. Once your permanent crown has arrived from the dental laboratory, you'll visit us again so Dr. Roby can remove the temporary and place the permanent crown. He'll adjust the final restoration as needed at this appointment, and by the time you leave, you'll have a comfortable, secure restoration in place. If you would like to whiten your teeth, talk to us about teeth whitening options prior to getting your crown.
